Job Purpose / Summary

The Night Shift MRO Receiving Clerk supports the accuracy, organization, and availability of maintenance, repair, and operations inventory by performing receiving, inventory-control, material-distribution, and warehouse activities during night-shift operations.

The position provides focused execution of receiving and inventory work during hours with fewer operational interruptions. It works in coordination with day-shift MRO personnel to maintain reliable inventory records, ensure priority materials reach the appropriate users, and sustain an orderly and dependable storeroom operation.

Short Description

Essential Duties and Additional Responsibilities

• Process authorized MRO receipts in accordance with established procedures, approval limits, and segregation-of-duties requirements.
• Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, part numbers, quantities, condition, and supporting documentation.
• Identify, barcode, stage, stock, and distribute materials to designated MRO, Maintenance, Production, HazMat, warehouse, or operational locations.
• Prioritize urgent materials and notify appropriate personnel when parts associated with active work orders or operational needs arrive.
• Investigate receiving discrepancies and communicate with suppliers or internal personnel regarding partial shipments, incorrect quantities, damaged materials, or missing documentation.
• Process materials returned to stock using established receipt and inventory-control procedures to preserve inventory accuracy and prevent unnecessary reordering.
• Perform assigned cycle counts, recounts, shelf checks, and inventory verification in coordination with designated day-shift MRO personnel.
• Use barcode scanners and approved inventory systems to maintain records and run receiving, inventory, discrepancy, and recount reports.
• Research, document, and communicate inventory discrepancies for correction or escalation.
• Maintain storage locations, operational shelves, staging areas, quarantine areas, and warehouse spaces in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Operate authorized forklifts and material-handling equipment to move, stage, stock, and reorganize inventory safely.
• Review departmental communication at the beginning of the shift, adjust priorities based on operational need, and provide an accurate end-of-shift handoff of completed work and unresolved issues.
• Maintain accurate receiving, inventory, and material-movement documentation and comply with applicable safety, environmental, financial-control, and company requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Ability to accurately interpret purchase orders, packing slips, part numbers, inventory records, and related documentation.
• Ability to operate barcode scanners and approved inventory systems following training.
• Current forklift qualification or ability to obtain and maintain the required qualification.
• Ability to work independently, follow established controls and routines, organize competing priorities, and communicate issues clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to inventory accuracy, consistency, and follow-through.

Desired

• Previous experience in MRO, warehouse operations, receiving, inventory control, manufacturing, material handling, supply chain, or logistics.
• Familiarity with plant departments, equipment, inventory locations, industrial parts, and maintenance materials.
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Familiarity with financial, customer-fulfillment, inventory, or related business systems.
• Prior experience working independently in a structured night-shift or off-shift assignment.

• Complete and maintain required forklift, material-handling, safety, and site-specific qualifications.
• Participate in required medical surveillance and testing, including blood lead testing when applicable to the site or assignment.
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and safely handle industrial parts and materials within established limits in warehouse, storeroom, and manufacturing environments.
• Perform all receiving and inventory transactions only within assigned authority and escalate activities requiring independent verification, approval, or processing by another function.
